Plainwood Squares Merchant Association 
is proud to present the 2nd Annual

Competition !

      The Details:
  • To compete in the “Plainfield Idol” challenge, performers must submit an application to the address listed below.
  • “Idol” candidate(s) must be between the ages of 16 – 28.
  • All applications and required support documents must be received by Noon, April 30, 2005.
  • Our judges will review the first 100 qualified applications. Auditions & interviews for the competitors will be held in Plainwood Square Park prior to May 10, 2005.
  • E-mail or letter will notify candidates. A list of qualified applicants will also be posted at the concerts. 
  • Selected applicants will then perform during the concert series.  If selected, contestants MUST:
  1. Be available to compete in all five concerts.

  2. Arrive at the venue by 5:45 pm each concert with music, CD, musical accompanist or any other items/props needed to perform.

  3. Be aware that points will be deducted for tardiness.

  4. Demonstrate camaraderie and a great attitude are imperative.

  5. Be responsible for their own transportation to and from the concerts.

  6. Agree to be available for and prepare for a group performance that will be held at the September 15 Concert.

  7. Contestants are expected to take part in a minimum of (3) community service events during or after the competition.

  • The first “Idol” contest will be held the third Thursday in May 19th, weather permitting.

 The Contestants:

 All contestants (who have abided by the rules) will receive a monetary award during the concert finale.
    
 The Winner:

 Will receive a Travel Package to audition in an official  American Idol competition; or audition at the Apollo; or a cash equivalent minimum  of $1000.00

       The Rules:

The procedures for entry and participation in the Plainfield Idol Competition are subject to the Competition Rules.

The Plainfield Idol Competition is an amateur competition. Professional singers, individuals with recording contracts and/or individuals preparing to release a CD are not eligible to participate.

The Competition is designed to showcase and judge the talent of Plainfield and surrounding community Competitors who have about the same level of experience and maturity. The Competition is open to USA citizens aged between 16 and 28 as of May 1, 2005. Competitors must submit:
- valid proof of age and photo identification
-  a one page summary of why he/she should be selected to take part in the competition

Competitors cannot have a criminal record or pending criminal charge that may interfere with their ability to take part in final competitions.

Competitors who are permitted to audition must sign a valid Competitor’s Release Form
